ART AGAINST GMO

_________
Opening Saturday August 3rd at Kauai's galerie 103, EVOLVE, will feature an eclectic collection of works by a global collective of artists. This multi-layered exhibit will explore a wide range of subjects contextualizing global environmental issues and our stewardship of land and water. In support of organizations that address rapidly expanding and pressing GMO agricultural issues across Kaua`i and throughout the international community, the artists and the gallery have come together to donate proceeds from art sales during this August exhibition. We have selected: Kaua`i Rising and Kaua`i Seed Bank, and two global groups: Ron Finley Projects and Dr. Vandana Shiva's Navdanya, as the recipients of our funding. San Francisco artists Judith Selby Lang and Richard Lang write about their print "Shimmering Substance --after Jackson Pollock": “It is based on the piece by Pollack of the same name. The fibers of the piece are taken from ghost netting retrieved by Project Kaisei from the North Pacific Gyre (The great Garbage patch North west of the Hawaiian Islands). At our studio, Electric Works in San Francisco, the strands of netting were disassembled and carefully arranged to emulate Pollock's painting and then digitally captured by our 128 megapixel camera.” _____________________________________________________________________
